And thanks! Selections Announced

We teamed up with to fill two slots for Radio Summer Camp, and it turns out the two selections come from right here in Wisconsin, one being from our fair city of Milwaukee.

Saturday, August 22nd

Club Garibaldi Rockhaus Stage:

To fill the opening slot for the Club Garibaldi show featuring Call Me Lightning and Post Honeymoon, we tapped Milwaukee’s Decapitado.

With members from legendary 80’s Touch & Go band from Milwaukee, Die Kreuzen, Decapitado bring the noise and should be “appreciated by punks, rivet heads, goths, industrialists and noise enthusiasts.”

Shank Hall:
Joining Bill Kirchen and Joe Pug at Shank Hall on the 22nd will be Madison’s own Whitney Mann. Whitney is “equally inspired by Willie Nelson and Ingrid Michelsen” with a sound that might recall Jenny Lewis.

Congrats to both bands for being selected to fill out the Radio Summer Camp roster.

RSC Kick-Off Show

On Thursday, August 20th, join us for the official Radio Summer Camp Kick-Off show.

Turner Hall Ballroom: 7PM – $10 or $25 for the complete festival pass.

Announcing Pre and Post Radio Summer Camp Shows

As if three strong days of music throughout Milwaukee’s venues isn’t enough, we have decided to hold pre and post Radio Summer Camp shows.

Jason Isbell

Wednesday, August 19th: Shank Hall – Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit

Whether it be his contributions to The Drive-By Truckers or his solo work, Jason Isbell’s definitive songwriting is the perfect way to work yourself into musical festival going.

We’re also super excited to have as an opener of this show, Strand of Oaks – the moniker of songwriter Timothy Showalter. If you haven’t become familiar with Strand of Oaks, you certainly will in the months to come. His January 2009 release Leave Ruin has been raved about for months by music bloggers throughout the country, so it’s only a matter of time before Strand of Oaks becomes a regular part of radio rotations, podcasts and ultimately, iPods.

Roadside Graves

Monday, August 24th: Club Garibaldi – Roadside Graves

After 4 days of great Radio Summer Camp shows, you’re going to need a little hair-of-the-dog, so we’re super excited to team up with for the official Radio Summer Camp Hangover Show featuring Roadside Graves.

The New Jersey band has masterfully taken alt-country to the next step, adding a little hutzpah to country-tinged songs full of intense (and intelligent) vocals, beautifully melodic piano and and spot on arrangements. We’ve been waiting for a Milwaukee Roadside Graves show for a while, so having them associated with RSC is an honor.

Opening this show Chris DeMay – a unique songwriter with honest nods to Wilco and a flare for letting the songs take on new life during live shows.
